Manifesto

"MUKA are open for contribution, Manchester focussed platform that celebrates and promote DIY cultures through features that represent the artist’s intentions and their part in Manchester’s Now. MUKA aim to create a directory of the underground, for all peoples and all works from within and around the city.  Cultures are all and ever-fluid: music,  fashion, art, butties, language, life, the weird, the wonderful, the underground. A culture, whilst it is being lived, is always in part unknown. We must begin to know.  DIY is for Do It Yourself, folk, accessibility. We must make it accessible. Manchester is a city; an amalgamation of different ideas. These ideas must be plotted onto the city’s map so people can find what they love. MUKA is NOT one collective. MUKA must spread from city to city, town to town, village to village, hamlet to hamlet. Create MUKA on your own terms with your own surroundings. The globalised world is anonymous but together we can be personal. Make the big small. Make the global-local."

Your

Platform

MUKA is NOT one collective. MUKA must spread from city to city, town to town, village to village, hamlet to hamlet. Create MUKA on your own terms with your own surroundings. The globalised world is anonymous but together we can be personal. Make the big small. Make the global-local. Visit our news pages to see how we document creatives in Manchester.

mission

Our

Mission

Here at MUKA, we want to give visibility to all underground and DIY creatives in Manchester, from painters to writers, and musicians to shop keepers. We will do this by celebrating and documenting the work they do, where they do and why they do it. Through articles, podcasts, playlists, radio shows and collaboration we will showcase what Manchester’s subcultures have to offer and provide it in an accessible format for all to enjoy. Click the link below to read our news on Manchester's creatives.
